We now have a car to cruise around town in. It's a Toyota Mark II which is essentially the same as the Camry model, which of course is funny since our most recent car in the States was a Camry! We are leasing the car (known as a "saloon" car) from a guy in town. Initially we considered having a driver but opted instead to give ourselves the full experience of living here by cautiously embracing opposite side of the road/car driving. So far, so good. We're still in one piece. Thankfully there is a lot of traffic always so it's easy to remember which side of the road to be on. Really, the hardest part is guesstimating the clearance between the left side of the car and the bicycles/donkeys/carts/pedestrians which share the road. Danger on the road is present in the form of the reckless 'dolladolla' buses which are constantly pulling on and off with minimal notice, the poorly advertised speed bumps and the unspoken rules of the road!
Does this thing have bulletproof glass and fuel tank? What about run-flat tires? Is there somewhere we can rent an automatic weapon when we visit?
